A soft, wistful sigh escaped Balkur's dark, delicate muzzle as she regretfully took in the scene before her. From where she stood upon the hilltop, forests spread all around her, vast and endless. Parting them like an ugly scar was the river, which even from such a great distance could be heard roaring and snarling its bitter warning. Barely visible, sitting placidly on the misty horizon, the mountains watched over the land below, observing the passing of each and every being. But most the most prominent feature of the land to Balkur was the profound lack of snow. Admittedly, it rested in large patches here or there, but such areas where foolishly miniscule when compared to the mighty fields of snow back home. Again, she sighed. Fear had driven her to this strangley warm place; fear that the memories that had haunted her without rest for so many years would come alive again. She'd seen them, not far away, but thankfully they hadn't seen her. They were still after her, even now. A shudder crept down her aching spine, and she shook her mane. A few days rest and she would return. For now, though, she would simply have to accept the warmth and snowlessness of this new land.
